Nowadays, fewer new buildings are being constructed, and more and more are being renovated, refurbished, remodeled, and modernized. In view of this, attention is focused more and more on new features in existent buildings. These new features are the foundation of modern interior decorating. Together with design, interior decorating encompasses the conceptual development, drafting, planning, and implementation of interior rooms which can achieve different meanings for people and also interact differently with them. They must therefore remain flexible and modifiable. Interior decorating and design must ensure the physical, emotional, and social well-being of the people who occupy these structures. Like gestalt therapy, Interior decorating influences our bodies, spirits, and behavior. Besides the mathematically calculable interior room, there is also the emotional room. This emotional room must be designed so that people, by means of spatial perception, are capable of developing relationships to the interior room. The breathing room should be able to develop parallel to its occupants and thus remain alive.
