Space is the primary medium of architecture. Architecture creates, shapes, and orders spaces. The definition, measurement, ordering, connection, and formal shaping of space are the most-important tasks of architecture. The traditional house still reflects the idea of the immediate family. The house is the social space for communal dining, playing, storytelling, and discussions. An additional aspect is the fact that the home represents a place of refuge. Every residential dwelling must take account of these in part contradictory needs and attempt to harmonize them. Suitably flexible interior decoration products are among the tools to achieve this. What we can learn from that is that the rooms of a residential dwelling must be literally capable of being transformed.
